PVLL maintains FIVE divisions of play which are determined by baseball age, with some allowance for skill level.
LOWER DIVISIONS
TEE BALL (age 4 – 6)
FARM (age 6 – 7)
Tee Ball and Farm divisions are developmental and aimed at introducing the game of baseball, establishing fundamentals, and ensuring players have enjoyable early baseball experiences. Teams are rostered by league Player Agents based on age, experience, and other pertinent factors (school, special requests, etc.). Games are run by coaches, with no umpires, no outs and no scoring. Teams hold one weekday practice and one game every Saturday. Tee Ball is tee/coach-pitch while Farm is machine-pitch.
UPPER DIVISIONS
MINORS (age 8 - 9)
INTERMEDIATES (ages 10 - 11)
MAJORS (ages 11 – 12)
Minors, Intermediates and Majors divisions are competitive and aimed at increasing skill level and furthering the understanding of the game. All players must attend a Player Evaluation Day where skill level is assessed by division coaches and teams are rostered via draft. Games are competitive, with paid umpires and normal baseball rules (outs, runs, etc), and win-loss records are maintained. Teams hold two practices and two games per week, on average. Minors is machine/kid-pitch while Intermediates and Majors are all kid-pitch.
BASEBALL AGE DETERMINATION
Little League International assigns divisions by age. The determination date is August 31, meaning a player’s “baseball age” for that season of play is whatever age they will be on August 31 of that year. In some cases, a player’s “baseball age” may not match their actual age during some or all of the season.
